What Successful Musicians Have In Common

There is no secret formula for being a successful musician. However, there are several qualities that successful musicians have in common. Maybe you have some or all of these qualities that mean that you were born with the qualities to make it.

When you have no plan B, plan A is the only route you can take. With that said, you need the confidence to know that you can and you will make it. You have no other choice. In your mind, you have no back up plan. It’s being successful or not existing at all, so you work and you continue working until your dream is your reality. You will do what it takes while you’re working on your music to make ends meet.

Successful musicians are have the drive to educate themselves and have a work ethic like no other. Most bands will split the responsibilities of promotion, booking, finances, etc.. When you get handed your job, research all that you possibly can about what you are supposed to be doing. The more you know, the more you can help your band. You’ll not only learn what you are supposed to be doing, you’ll probably get really good at it.

Patience is a virtue when it comes to your career. You’re not going to be an overnight success. Take everything that happens in your growing career as a learning experience. If something is working out for you, keep doing it. If something isn’t as successful as you thought, look into why it isn’t going the way you thought it was. How can you improve it?

Don’t give up. Giving up is easy to do when things get hard. When things aren’t going as well as you thought, you should probably just give up. WRONG! Never give up! Keep pushing and plugging along. Hard work (and talent) is the only thing that will get you to where you want to be. The music industry is not a kind one. It can be mean and you may not understand all of the decisions that are made in the industry, but you can’t let it bring you down. You need to keep fighting for you what you believe in.
