When You’re A Fan Girl In Your Own Band [A Blog From Autumn City]

It’s no big secret that I am huge music lover. I love all styles of music, but I always tend to lean towards that classic, Woodstock kind of Rock and Roll. It’s amazing to go to these huge festivals and see all of your favorite bands playing. It’s even more amazing when you get invited to play IN one of the bands that you have seen so many times before.
I happened to have the opportunity to open up for John Ginty and sing a song during his set. For some reason, the universe put that connection together and he wanted more of me. He had sent me a message saying that he had bigger plans for me.
A week goes buy and he gives me a call asking me if I would like to sing a private event with his band next week. My fear had to think about it, but I immediately said yes.

So tomorrow, will be the biggest show of my personal career. I had to learn 9 of his songs… Sometimes I have a hard time remembering my own songs, but that’s a different story.

I went to his house to practice with his band. I was nervous as hell, obviously because I am going to John Ginty’s HOUSE… to practice for HIS show… this whole thing still wasn’t sinking in. I was trying to have a normal conversation with him, but in the back of my head I’m thinking, “I’m having a conversation with this man in his own kitchen, who has played with Warren Haynes, The Allman Brothers, Jewel, The Dixie Chicks and hundreds of other famous musicians.”

At the end of the practice, he told me that he was so impressed with me and why wasn’t I picked up already

I guess there is a reason for everything.
    Sometimes you don’t know why.
Sometimes, you don’t think it’s going to happen the way it happens.
I’m just so grateful that it did happen.
